About Us


We in the diaspora and returning Liberians from the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia and other countries not mentioned came together and organize ourselves under the name; Diaspora Initiatives of Professionals for Research, Advocacy and Development, registered in Liberia and in the Diaspora to first work as a unit and divide ourselves in our sectors of choice to work and develop these sectors. Each sector will have a Technical Focal Team and will comprise of Liberians and friends of Liberia and professionals with interest and or expertise in the sector. Each TFT will conduct a research or need assessment in its area, come out with findings, if there is a need for improvement in the sector, meet the relevant government agency, revisit existing policies, if there is a need for reform, work with the relevant government entity to enact the right policy, if there is a need for development, work with the relevant government entity to raise funds locally and in the diaspora to fix the problem. Diaspora Liberians will write grants in their various region under a non-for-profit organizational structure.

Our goal is to gather professional and patriotic Liberians around the world to consolidate their expertise and experiences for the purpose of developing Liberia in all sectors and improving the lives of ordinary Liberians

Mission

The mission of the Diaspora Initiatives is to recruit professional Liberians in the diaspora in various sectoral areas, carryout research/ need assessment, including that of existing policies, advocate, help improve these areas through developmental projects, working with the government of Liberia, international partners, friends of Liberia, the Liberian people for the purpose of improving living conditions of the people and developing the country.

Vision

The vision of the Diaspora Initiatives is to ensure that Liberia is positively transformed, developed in all sectors and the living conditions of Liberians improve with less dependency on the diaspora and international partners.

Technical Focal Team

​The Technical Focal Team(TFT)  comprise of Professionals Liberians and friends of Liberia residing in the Europe, America, Canada, Australia, Africa Asia and other parts of the world and returned Liberians and will be placed on sectors based on their expertise or interest and will schedule meetings with the heads of governmental sectors/agencies.  The complete list of the sectorial Technical Focal Team is place on the Program tab.

  1. The technical focal team will research, advocate, and seek to develop each sector in collaboration with the existing government agency. 

  2. Community Assessment: Understand the current state of the community by conducting surveys, interviews, and data analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This will provide a clear picture of the community's needs and assets.

  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with community members, local organizations, businesses, and government agencies to build relationships and partnerships. Collaborate with these stakeholders to gather insights, share resources, and align efforts towards common goals.

  4. Vision and Goal Setting: Work with community members to establish a shared vision for the future and set specific, measurable goals. Ensure that these goals are realistic, achievable, and responsive to the identified needs of the community.

  5. Resource Mobilization: Identify and leverage available resources, including financial resources, human capital, infrastructure, and technology. Seek funding opportunities from government grants, private donors, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic organizations to support community development initiatives.

  6. Capacity Building: Invest in building the capacity of community members and organizations through training, education, and skill development programs. Empower individuals and groups to take ownership of their own development and contribute effectively to the community's growth.

  7. Program Development: Design and implement programs and projects that address the identified needs of the community. Prioritize initiatives that promote social inclusion, economic empowerment, environmental sustainability, and cultural enrichment.

  8. Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the progress of community development efforts and measure their impact. Collect data regularly, solicit feedback from stakeholders, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure effectiveness and accountability.

  9. Communication and Outreach: Communicate regularly with community members and stakeholders to keep them informed about ongoing activities, solicit input, and encourage participation. Utilize various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, community meetings, and local media outlets.

  10. Celebration and Recognition: Celebrate achievements and recognize the contributions of individuals and organizations to community development. Highlight success stories to inspire others and reinforce a sense of pride and belonging within the community.

  11. Adaptability and Continuous Improvement: Remain flexible and responsive to changing circumstances and emerging needs within the community. Continuously evaluate and refine strategies based on feedback, lessons learned, and new opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
